Trying out a new illustration technique.

Check out the steps behind it all.

Wasn't happy with the hair, so let's doit again from start.

The trick here is to actually make like it was a 3D low poly model, so try to draw as the mesh should be, with volume.

Small details for glasses frame.

Always use triangles, never leave any quadrilateral.

A tip is to make highights and shadows contours first then work your way around.

I tend to always make a copy of my current progress before any major changes, just in case anything goes wrong.

Start painting the triangles. I used live paint bucket to make it easier. Try to pick the color from the center of your triangles, but remember the idea is to make it look nice, so don't hesitate to spice it up a little bit the hue if your objects start to blend in too much.

Extended a little bit of the shirt's collar so it wouldn't be just a cropped hovering head.

Add a little exploding debris as style.

Now comes the fun part of adding some lighting with a nice color scheme. Just duplicate the mesh, create a gradient and pick your colors from there.

Add a text (my friend's surname).

Some more debris for effect, some blur and voilá!
Thanks for watching!
