After a little discussion with a friend of mine about an illutration style that we both appreciated while surfing the web, I decided to try and mimic it as to help him with a little college assignement he had.

Hope you guys enjoy the process behind it.
This is the final piece.

I always love finding new ways to do things and reading tutorials or learning new workflows, so beneath you will see the process behind making this illustration. Enjoy without moderation!

Making the face outlines was the first step.
Then I used the blob brush tool to make a few main strokes along the hair flow and pen to break up the mosaic.
With the mosaic ready, it was just a matter of using the live paint bucket to fill in the objects with different colors.
I tried to make the same on the face, but I didn't quite get the result I was hoping for.
Add in a nice styled font.
Make a little background.
Add some info and colors and finish off with a nice little texture to give it a nicer look.
I'm always wondering about the workspaces people use to design things, so in this little project I left my workspace visible so anyone could see how I'm used to work.
P.S.: This is the art we got inspired by http://bit.ly/1lcHylp
P.P.S.: This is a link for the .ai file so anyone can use it and learn from it http://goo.gl/2HqjTS
